Mihaela Liteanu's Troupe at The National English Drama Festival - Cluj, April 2009
The play "Who is Cassandra" is directed by Mihaela Liteanu.
A teenager (Cassandra), high school student, is in different situations: at school (with her colleagues and teachers), at home (with her mother and father), in a café (with a Jazz singer and an old man).
She is always accompanied by her inner voices: the Rebel, the Conformist and the Individualist, who are facets of her personality. Her problem starts at school, where she has to hand in a paper in order to be given a mark, but instead she writes a poem. Her teacher does not accept this at first, but after reading her poem, she really appreciates it. Still she asks Cassandra to write a scientific paper during the vacation.
Cassandra’s dilemma starts. At home, her mother doesn’t seem to understand her, but her father is on her side. After her parents leave home for the opera, she goes out and being in the street, she sees a café where she enters, hoping that she will find someone who could understand her.
The most interesting part is her contradictory inner voices that urge her to do different things and adopt different attitudes. What will happen in the end … come and see the play to find out what decision Cassandra will make.
