The initiative group of this project, "Studioul de creatie STUDENTIE - University Years Creative Studio" is part of the Cultural Association Europea, a non-governmental non-profit organization founded in 2005. By its statute, the Association proposes itself to support young people’s initiatives having in view a European cooperation, especially in fields like theater and cinema (show arts in
general), translations, cultural management, multimedia, new technologies, social assistance and ecology, all these in the frame of an institutional policy of promoting national cultural values for an adequate integration in the geopolitical and cultural European space. The Association Europea achieved projects and successful
collaborations in 2006-2007: the project “Modern Trilogy”, consisting in 3 plays, with socio-political themes, in 3 European languages (French, English and Romanian) and their presentation at the theater festival Festival d’Hiver 2006 in Paris and the Festival “Coup de théâtre” – Bucharest, April 2006 – this project was awarded
with Prix de la Générosité (Jury’s Prize) and the Certificate European Language Label 2006; another successful initiative was the organization of two editions (the 4th and the 5th ) of the Translations Contest “Corneliu M. Popescu”, original contest which had record number of participants (150) at the latest edition, taking place for 3 days and having the support of many institutions and enterprises (Embassy of France, the
Education Authority Vaslui, the House of Teaching Staff, the Authority for Youth); in 2007, there took place a very special project which marked the tightening of the relationship with the local and educational communities – the project “The Propagation of Cultural Values of Vaslui County all over Europe”, co-financed by the County Council of Vaslui, with a budget of 50.000 lei, which had as a main objective the retrieving of some regional cultural values and their promotion at a European level; in this project, there were achieved many documentary films, brochures and studies about the folk and institutional culture in the county of Vaslui, and there were
acquired ten computers which were donated to a high school in Vaslui and which are destined especially to the low budget youngsters; the Association also accomplished the projects “Cinema and Theater Workshop 2006” and “Cinema Ethos of Vaslui 2007”, co-financed by the Authority for Youth Vaslui, projects in which there were
achieved many video clips and were chosen new members for the theater and cinema troupe Europea. The films, the plays and the documentaries were presented in numerous television shows on local televisions.
Another important institutional project in 2007 was the setting up of the publishing house “The Londoner Publishing House”, destined to the young authors and the launching of the first volume about the management of the European projects. For each project, there were created websites with a very good rating http://www.9elmk.blogspot.com , http://www.9e.uv.ro , http://www.culture-vaslui.uv.ro ,
http://www.europeaprojects.blogspot.com , http://www.films.uv.ro . A remarkable achievement of the Association is the permanent collaboration with the film director Corneliu Porumboiu, which brought to the inclusion of some members of the troupe in the casting of the film “A fost sau n-a fost/ 1208 East of Bucharest”
awarded with Caméra d’Or at the Film Festival Cannes 2006, also that in the very new film "Policeman. Adjective", selected at the 2009 edition of the International film festival from Cannes, at the section "A Certain Regard". The association also collaborates with the film director Alecu Vitzentzatos and with the actress Catinca Tudose from the National Theater Iaşi. The Association has now 160 members registered and many fans and it proposes itself for 2008 the continuation of
the successful initiatives, the inclusion of the Translation Contest in the Calendar of the Official Contests of the Ministry of Education, the achievement of short and long length artistic movies in the spirit of intercultural education, the promotion of steady international collaborations in the artistic field and the achievement of a coherent editorial policy for the Londoner Publishing House as well as the implementation of some new regional institutional projects which should continue the collaboration with partner institutions.
